Jimmy Palmu – From scaffolder to one of the trade’s strongest voices

What starts as a job can sometimes become something much bigger. Jimmy Palmu entered scaffolding almost by accident, after training as a painter and looking for a better path. What began as a practical decision soon became a profession built on responsibility, discipline, and respect for the trade. Over time, that same journey led him to create Big Dawg Scaffolding, now one of the most recognizable scaffolding platforms on social media.

But Jimmy’s story is not only about visibility. It is about understanding the weight behind the work, the standards behind safety, and the responsibility that comes with representing the industry publicly. In recent years, his voice has become known far beyond the job site, and now his road has taken another step forward. After first joining ScaffChamp as a media voice around the event, Jimmy returns this year in a very different role – as a referee.
